Shawano Downtown Announces Christmas Festivities

Shawano Downtown is pleased to present the 30th annual Santa Parade in sponsorship with Charlie’s County Market. The Santa Parade will be Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m. with the parade theme, “An Old-Fashioned Christmas.”

In 2024, Shawano Downtown proudly commemorates its 30th year of Christmas celebrations. Originating in 1994 as the Holiday Stroll, the event initially attracted a modest crowd of 200 individuals who enjoyed wagon rides and roasted chestnuts in the heart of downtown. Over the years, this tradition has flourished and evolved into the Shawano Santa Parade, a beloved community event that now draws thousands of people to line Main Street each year on the first Friday of December.

In 2018, the tradition of the Holiday Stroll was revived and relocated to the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The event now features an array of activities, including a visit with Santa, reindeer, marshmallow roasting, wagon rides, and an impressive display of over 100 Christmas trees. The festivities culminate in a tree lighting ceremony.

The Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting, set for Saturday, November 30, 2024, aligns with Small Business Saturday and serves as a kickoff to the holiday season. It provides both locals and visitors with a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate the holiday spirit, and support the community.

Make plans to be in Shawano Downtown on Saturday, November 30 for the Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting, and Friday, December 6 for the Santa Parade. To learn more about Christmas festivities in Shawano Downtown, visit www.shawanodowntown.com.
