Octoberfest is THIS Saturday

“So, what happens at Octoberfest?” one of my friends asked recently.

Well, let me tell you!

Hi, this is Lindsay Johnson, Shawano Downtown Coordinator, and plans are in full swing for an AMAZING Shawano Downtown Octoberfest on Saturday, October 5.

First, I need to give a BIG shout-out to Shawano Total Fitness and SweetLife Eatery, sponsors of the event. We couldn’t do this without them!

Kick off the morning at 8 a.m. with The F.R.E.S.H. Project Shawano Farmer’s Market at Franklin Park. They are staying open an extra hour in celebration of Octoberfest, so you can shop the market until 1 p.m. – hooray!

Octoberfest officially begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street. Featuring over 50 craft vendors setup right on the street selling everything from jewelry to mittens and homemade goods like salsa and honey.

This family-friendly event includes several free kids’ activities, such as games with the Shawano Area Early Childhood Partnership and Shawano County 4-H, a photo-op booth hosted by Shawano County Library, a pumpkin giveaway sponsored by Idell Johnston State Farm Insurance, and entertainment by Freddie, the balloon artist.

In addition, there will be a book signing at Old Glory Candy by Author, Kelly Nelson,

Witches’ Night Out booth where you can purchase your t-shirt, pumpkin succulent planting event at The Stock Peddler, The Daily Drip Coffeehouse will be hosting Molly’s Meadow until 2 p.m., Thornberry Cottage will have Hammen Family Orchard & Winery setup in front of their store and SO MUCH MORE!!!

Live polka will fill the air at The Naberhood stage, brought to you by Senzig’s Fine Home Furnishings. Enjoy the Mark Jirikovec Band from 10 a.m. to Noon, followed by Sugar Bush Lite from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.

Now, I saved the best for last. Everyone’s favorite…. the FOOD!

From brats to burgers, caramel apples, kettle corn and German cuisine – there will be plenty to eat and drink. Enjoy food by the following vendors: The Melt Stop, Guten Appetit, El Jefe/El Tequila, Buzz's Ice Cream, Home Field Kettle Corn, LBN Foods, Roll'n, and The Main Celebration Gourmet Dessert Parlor. While you're enjoying the festivities, make sure to visit the local downtown shops.

Hope to see you on Saturday!
