This is Lindsay Johnson, Shawano Downtown Coordinator. I’ve received some questions about “how the Sip, Swirl & Stroll works” so thought I’d take a few moments and outline this NEW event. Join me to Sip, Swirl & Stroll throughout Shawano Downtown on Friday, August 11. I am SUPER excited for this new event! It’s something the downtown business owners have talked about doing for a while, and now it’s happening!
First order of business, this is a ticketed event. I know, that is different than our other events, but in order to plan and ensure samples for everyone, we needed to limit the ticket numbers.
You can purchase your ticket at Eventbrite.
I almost forgot to mention, tickets are limited to 300 so purchase your ticket now while they are still available.
As an added bonus, everyone who purchases their ticket by Saturday (August 5) at 5 p.m., will be entered for a chance to win a $50 Shawano Downtown shopping gift certificate to be used at any participating Shawano Downtown business during the event. I know, right?! How fun! Who couldn’t use an extra $50 to spend in Shawano Downtown?
When you purchase your ticket through Eventbrite, you will receive an electronic ticket/confirmation via email (bring this with you to check-in).
Now, let’s talk about check-in on August 11: Check-in will run from 3 to 6:30 p.m. in The Naberhood located at 214 S. Main Street, Shawano, WI. Myself and fabulous sidekick, Leah, will be there to greet you (we’ll be setup with a red tent near Stubborn Brothers Brewery if you need a reference point).
When you arrive, please have your electronic ticket and photo ID with you. Once we verify your ticket and age (you must be 21 years old to participate), you’ll receive a wristband. This wristband will serve as an indicator to businesses that you are part of the event, and you will receive a sample at each stop.
At check in, you’ll receive a list of all participating businesses (and what they are serving) so you can plan your adventure! In addition, we have this AMAZING commemorative tumbler for each of you!
Businesses won’t begin serving samples until 4 p.m., however, I encourage you to come early to check-in so you can begin your Sip, Swirl & Stroll adventure promptly at 4 p.m.
If you have some extra time, Amelia Ford will be playing in The Naberhood beginning at 3 p.m.
I wasn’t planning on sharing the list of wine, beer and Twig’s soda that you’ll be sampling (because I really love surprises), but I can’t wait any longer…so, here you go!
But wait, there's more listed below! I am thrilled to have 18 Shawano Downtown businesses participating in the inaugural Sip, Swirl & Stroll event. Each of these businesses will provide you with a 1 oz. sample of the beverage listed under their name. Which beverage are you looking forward to sampling?
I’ve heard talk of some of the businesses doing pairings – for example, I can’t wait to see what Old Glory Candy pairs with the Rancho La Floria Chocolate Martini wine they are sampling!! I bet whatever it is will be delicious. This event will be a great opportunity to explore all the AMAZING stores in Shawano Downtown.
